Repository access note: Selected Idaho State Archives county microfilm holdings, grouped by series description. Date envelopes combine listed film segments and may contain gaps. These are film holdings, not a claim of online images. Consult the linked inventory for roll, item, volume and exact dates. Historic Alturas County items were not reassigned to present-day counties.

Records stay with the county that created them. If your ancestor lived here before 1864, search the parent county. The Atlas of Historical County Boundaries shows each boundary change.

Research tip

Idaho began statewide registration of births and deaths in 1911. Before 1863 its land was part of Oregon and Washington territories (the east also of Nebraska and Dakota territories), and some early settlers in the southeast recorded events in Cache County, Utah, thinking they lived there.
