Repository access note: Selected Idaho State Archives county microfilm holdings, grouped by series description. Date envelopes combine listed film segments and may contain gaps. These are film holdings, not a claim of online images. Consult the linked inventory for roll, item, volume and exact dates. Historic Alturas County items were not reassigned to present-day counties.
Sources: the catalogs and repository descriptions linked on the entries above. Selected inventories do not establish complete coverage of every record type or online access to original documents. Read the repository access note for source dates and limitations.

Boundaries and parent counties
Formed from: Blaine County
Check the parent county for earlier records: Blaine County
Later formed partly from Lincoln County: Gooding County, Jerome County, Minidoka County
Records stay with the county that created them. If your ancestor lived here before 1895, search the parent county. The Atlas of Historical County Boundaries shows each boundary change.
Research tip
Idaho began statewide registration of births and deaths in 1911. Before 1863 its land was part of Oregon and Washington territories (the east also of Nebraska and Dakota territories), and some early settlers in the southeast recorded events in Cache County, Utah, thinking they lived there.
